Van's recommends installing wood gear stiffeners to the main landing gear to dampen out any tendencies for the gear to vibrate during taxiing. Apparently this has been a minor problem and attaching the stiffener will greatly reduce the chance of the vibration occuring.
Van has you make the stiffener from two wood moulding strips that are placed back to back then shaped per the plans. I spent quite a bit of time shaping this and getting the fit right. The stiffener will be attached to the rear of each gear leg, then the fairing will be mounted over that.
