Brief Description:  More FAB work

Mounted the cowl rear support bracket after drilling holes for bottom hinge pins. Cut and bent bottom hinge pins then inserted them into firewall bottom hinge halfs to test pin fit. OK! Cut away foam block supporting cowl inlet extension. Then fiberglassed in 2 more layers of cloth on the back side of the inlet for reinforcement. This keeps the inlet smooth and doesn't decrease the inlet area. We'll let this harden then final cut the inlet extension to match the mounted FAB (FIltered Air Box). Then greased up the inside bottom of the FAB and the accelerator pump on the carburetor, applied a liberal coating of RTV to the flange of the air filter and mounted the FAB with the filter inside. After tightening the mounting bolts we checked for a good seal around the filter and all seemed OK. We then mounted the control cable with an offset post, cut the casing and attached the control cable to the door latch. After adjusting the door the excess cable was cut off and a bend made in the cable end for safety. After reviewing the cable throw we decided to make a positive stop for full closed to prevent binding while closed. We fabricated the stop, attached it to the side of the FAB with RTV and a rivet then tested - works great!
