Well, the empennage kit arrived last week while I was out of town. Opened the boxes last night and took a brief look. Definitely excited now and looking forward to getting started, but first things first as they say. I still need to finish getting my tools ready to go and I need to complete the Vans metal practice kit I ordered so I can practice riveting. Tonite I spoke to one of the EAA Technical Counselors from my EAA chapter and he advised me to get some more scrap metal and practice on a couple hundred rivets or so before I start actually on the empennage. He said that from the folks he knows, about a 1/3 or better of the RV builders around here end up buying a new empennage when they get most of the structure built since their riveting skills drastically improve and they want the empennage work to match that of the rest of the aircraft. We will see how it goes. Hopefully, in next couple days will get the empennage kit inventoried and will include some pictures with that entry.
