Brief Description:  Took the Plunge

Well after 3-4 months of getting organized in my work shop and getting all the tools together, I finally dropped the order today for the empennage. Look forward to hearing from Vans on how long it will take the kit to get here. Since October 05, when a co-worker of mine (who built his own RV4) put the thought in my head, I have been researching, reading, and studying about building my own RV8t. I looked at all the info I could on tools and decided to focus on getting a good workshop together first to include some good work benches, good compressed air system and all the tools I will need to make this aircraft. I also wanted to ensure that the RV8 would fit me as I am a big guy (6'2" and 230 lbs), so I finally was able to meet someone thru the local EAA chapter (which I joined by the way) who has a flying RV8. I met him and he took me for a very nice ride convincing me that I would easily fit in the aircraft.I also ordered an RV Training Project so I can practice the skills (drilling, countersinking, deburring, priming, and riveting) necessary to build the kit prior to using the kit components. That will probably be my next entry, showing my progress in training.
