Brief Description:  Assemble wing fuel tanks

Started by prepping all the fuel tank ribs - smoothed all the edges with the diegrinder, then fluted each rib and marked its location. Next up was to make the tank stiffeners (12 per wing mounted on the bottom skin to provide additional strength). Photo #1 shows them cleco'd into place on the right fuel tank skin. The skiin is then cleco'd into place on the baffle and the spar without the ribs in place to ensure alignment with the leading edge. Mine was good so I did not have to make any adjustments to the holes on the tank baffle. Next the tank ribs are cleco'd into place on the baffle as shown in photo #2. I then drilled the rib to baffle to attaching angle holes to full size and then layed the skin in place over the ribs and cleco'd it in place. Sounds easy but was a pain to get all the clecos in as it fits pretty snug, so that took awhile. Once it was in place it lined up pretty well with the leading edge and the wing skins so I went ahead and drilled out the wing joint plate. Finally I unbolted the wing from the spar and removed it as one piece to the work bench (see next group of photos). There I final drilled all the tank skin holes and countersunk the spanwise row of holes that attach the skin to the baffle. Tomorrow I do all of this again to the right tank.
