Brief Description: More Pix of Screwed up Left Elevator
Photo 1 shows the elevator after flipping it over. You can see where my marked line was for the bend and how deep the bend ended up after using the rivet gun. Pix #2 shows the setup for bending the top tab down - what I wasn't paying attention to was since the bottom tab was now wider since the bend went deeper, when I tried to bend the top tab I dended up bending the bottom tab as well. So, being me, I tried to fix it by cutting off the bent piece and making the bent tab smaller and then trying to get the bend back closer to my marked line. The result is in picture #3 - I over stressed the metal where the bend met the corners and started the metal cracking. I could try to stop drill it but don't think it will work and it definitely won't look good. Sooooo, I ordered a new left elevator skin and the reinforcing spars needed for it. I will redo the whole darn thing. I am going to try to save the trim servo reinforcing plate and reuse it.
After flipping the elevator over you can see that the bend is well outside of the marked line
