Brief Description:  Finished closeout of elevators between spars

I finished closing out the main torque box of the right elevator. The front spar was riveted to the top and bottom skins and the ribs were also riveted.

There is a missing instruction in the plans to finish riveting the rear spar at the outboard skins that were previously left open. The reason you leave these out is to gain access to a few rivets inside the torque box. I finished riveting the rear spar rivets on both the left and right elevator to complete the torque box closeout.

The next steps are to bond the foam ribs into the trailing edge. I still have to do this on the trim tab as well. Unfortunately, it's hot today and if I started doing it now I won't have the pot life in the sealant to finish all three components. I bought an additional 2 oz semkit of CS3204 B-2 sealant at Aircraft Spruce just in case. The plan is to bond the ribs early in the morning before the temperature rises too high.

I prepped the surfaces and the TE wedge with a good acetone scrub and after drying I affixed double sided tape to each side of the TE wedge. I put is aside to set overnight.
