Brief Description: Application of 2 BID layup on wing leading edges
After wings were bonded, excess adhesive was cleaned from L/E area and any excess skin was trimmed. There was some minor (cosmetic) porosity in L/E area that was a result of mis-fit between lower and upper wing skin that is common for this process. This is why Hysol is applied so generously in all bonding areas.
Once L/E surfaces were sanded, trimmed and cleaned. Jeffco resin was brushed on to wet out all lay up areas. Then, resin was mixed with flox to create a thick consistency and this mixture was worked in all areas that were porous or needed some filler. 2" wide 2-BID tape was laid up over. Air bubbles were worked out as much as possible and tearplies were placed over lay up and pressed down to help remove excess resin. These lay ups were left to cure, and afterwards excess material was sanded.
On left wing there was about six (6) areas (each within 1" dia.) with air pockets left beneath BID tape, so these areas were reworked.
