Brief Description:  Bonding of counterweight inside rudder

Similar to counterweight bonded inside elevators, lead weight is bonded in top fwd area of the rudder. This must be accomplished before Tail (including rudder) can be closed out.

Both counterweight and bonding surface of the rudder have been sanded with 40 grit and then cleaned with acetone. Jeffcor resin has been mixed and all bonding surfaces have been wetted out. Remaining resin has been thickened with flox and then used to bond weight into place. Wise grip clamp was used to hold it in place during cure.

Later, excess resin and laminate was trimmed. Piece of 2-core-2 was cut and profiled to the template, de-cored on the edges and filled with mix of Jeffco resin and flox. After, vent hole was drilled thru. Newly made piece was bonded aft of the rudder weight using Jeffco resin and flox mixture and 2 bid layup was applied in space between the two as a reinforcement.
