Brief Description:  Close-out of left wing

In order to close out wing, FAA DER had to review workmanship and condition of wing components. In our case, Mike DeHate who is also an ex Lancair chief test pilot, and chief engineer, came down and reviewed our workmanship and condition of the wing. He gave us the go-ahead to close out left and right wings, as well as horizontal stab.

Also, Lancair employee Jeff Nelson has performed pre close-out inspection of the wing as a part of Lancair build shop procedure.

Wing was located properly in fixture. Hysol EA9360 was mixed and applied in all bonding areas as thin film in order to 'wet' out all contact points. Further, flox was mixed in EA9360 to create paste like consistency which is then applied to all contact surfaces on lower wing skin and rib/spar caps. Top skin was placed on top of the rest of the wing. Clecos in L/E fwd and aft locations were placed first to line up skin with bottom portion of the wing. Further to this, clamps, weights. duct tape and more clecos were used to apply pressure in all areas where adhesive was applied. Excess adhesive squeezed out was cleaned up as much as posible to help minimize amount of grinding and sanding afterwards.

Also, aileron was temporary installed wih 3 screws to hold wing skins in alignment with this flight control device during cure.
