Brief Description:  Auto Pilot Servos

Lots of thought and head scratching about where to mount the auto pilot roll servo. Arion has always mounted it on a bracket that straddles the rudder cables right below the fuel console. Last week, Nick posted a new position for the servo on Facebook. He mounted it to the wing root which seems much easier. There is no need to build a bracket to straddle the rudder cables, just screw it into the wing root. The only downside is that the passenger will need to step over the rod from the servo to the stick mixer bolt. Not a big deal because the aileron push rod will run about 2 inches below the servo rod. So, wing root location wins.

While deciding on the roll servo location, I mounted the auto pilot pitch servo under the baggage compartment floor. First, I wetted out the location with epoxy, mixed up some structural flox and used that to mount the servo mounting bracket to the fuselage floor. Once this cures, I'll go back and put a strip of FG tape over the servo for good measure. I don't want extra screws going through the floor.
