Now comes some of the slow work. I want to paint some of the parts before putting on plane. You have to get the blue plastic off and then wash off the residue that stays on using lacquar thinner and some elbow grease. Then you wash it down with a fine scotchbrite pad and Dawn dishwahing soap to get all the oils and stuff off. Then it is sprayed with an acid to clean the aluminum and rinsed before it drys. The last step before the primer is putting on the alodine and then rinsing again before that drys.
