Brief Description: Fitting the top centre Cowl plate & hinges
Today it was time to start on the top cowl plate.
I found that the cowl hinge supplied for the opening cowl tops was about a foot too short to do both top opening cowls. !! Typical of BushCaddy.
I marked & cut the center plate and then drilled the plate, hinge & angle support all in one.
Also found that only 4 Southco rotary action link lock cowl latches had been supplied, when in reality, at least 3 each opening cowl cheek would be required. I cannot buy these in Australia and I'll be dammed if I'll chase up BushCaddy for some more. I now plan to use all 4 of these latches on the engine oil dipstick cowl (right side), and will use screw fasteners on the left, as this left side cowl is opened much less often.
Unfortunately, my progress will be delayed for more than 6 - 7 weeks now. An Expedition trip to the Arctic on the MS Bremen was planned and booked some time back, so off we go again to the other side of the planet!
