Brief Description: Vertical tail drilled and a small oddity
I got the tail mounted and lined up, so I clamped it in and drilled the holes. I then started prepping the hardware I needed for the fore edge of the vertical stab fitting. I started countersinking the nutplates like an idiot. After I did that I stopped working with those since an order from ACS is neede to fix my little mistake. I went on to drill the mounting holes and countersinking the aft fitting edge so once my new nutplate comes in I just need to rivet it on and mount it.
During this time I also realized that when I bolt down my horizontal stab a crease forms on my right side skin. I thought it was the skin was sticking up over the longeron but that is not the case. I filed it down regardless. It seems to me that the bracket that the aft right bolt mounts tightens to is not perfectly in line with the longeron so when I tighten the braket it wants to flex the longeron and the skin which is attached to it. Doesnt seem like a big deal but I emailed Kerry at Sonex to see the professional opnion. There will be little work in the coming days until I get my ACS order and a reply from Kerry.
