Reference section 45-15 and 45-16 of the plans, position gas strut brackets in cabin top. We needed to skip ahead because the overhead console needs to be trimmed for the brackets.
I decided to use the machined billet brackets available from planearound.com...they are beautiful!
The mounting surface for the brackets was not flat so it was filed and ground to provide a flat surface for mouning.
Clamped bracket to cabin top and using the holes in the bracket as a guide, match drilled the cabin top. Each hole was match drilled, final drilled and a screw inserted prior to drilling the next hole.
Once all the holes were drilled, I ran a 10-32 tap through the bracket holes to clean the threads.
Repeat all steps for other side.
Both brackets were then temporarily attached to the cabin top in order to accurately trim the overhead console.
