Brief Description:  Fresh Air Vents

Got a few small jobs done today. The two fresh air vents can be simply glued into position on the inside of the forward fuselage, however I'm not too comfortable with that. The instructions say that it is an option to rivet the plastic air scoops onto the fuselage, however this will also require some small aluminium washers on the shop head side to prevent the rivet from pulling into the plastic part.

From other builder's blogs I see that it is common to make up a small square washer for each rivet, however I wanted to do something a little more aesthetically appealing (even though it'll end up being out of sight). To meet this end I made up a couple aluminium strips, shaped to the profile of the air vent, as shown in the first picture below. Took me heaps longer, but is going to look heaps better.

With the air vent retaining brackets made, alodined and primed, I then turned my attention to the baggage area skin stiffener that I started last weekend. I formed the right amount of twist into the part, then match drilled to the skin. This one fits much better than my first attempt a few months ago.

No photo's, but I got another little job done today when I made up the covers for the rear fuselage inspection hatches. Nothing difficult, just some match drilling, smoothing, dimpling and alodining.
