Brief Description:  2: Attaching Ailerons and Flaps

With the wings bolted on and aligned, next up I fitted the ailerons and flaps. Nothing too difficult about this, except for the fact thatone of my aileron pushrods had detached from the bellcrank assembly inside the wing, so I needed to reattach it. I now know how hard it is to work through the tiny inspection hatches ..... not easy.

Anyway, the ailerons and flaps are now attached, and I also connected the aileron control rods to the joystick linkages to test it all out ....... yep, works well. I just need to play with the control rod lengths later to get the ailerons in neutral position when the joystick is also in neutral position.

I also started to look into drilling the holes for the flap pushrods, however I found that this is exrtremely vague in the instructions. It just says to drill the holes, without any further advice on where or how to go about it. I searched some other builders logs and found a guy who had some very good pictures of drilling holes in botht he fuselage bottom and side skins, then enlarging them so they became one, but no description on how he determined the initial drill positions. Hmmm, am going to have to research this some more.
