This morning I tested the wiring that I installed yesterday by plugging in a nav/strobe light at the wing tip, and connecting up my 14V power supply to the various wires at the wing root. All works very well.
I then ran in the 16 AWG red/black wires for my landing lights. I've decided to install my landing lights into the leading edge, rather than out at the wing tips, purely for better performance as taxi lights. Plus, the RV-9 wing tip shape doesn't lend itself so well to lamp installation as does the RV-7/8 design.
