Brief Description:  Evan's "big boy" room

Derek and Julie's little boy needed a "big boy" room with the new little sister on the way. Again, Julie came up with a design idea so Connie and I made it happen. In this case we began by painting the room Khaki just like Reilyn's. The room was completed by adding three chair rails all the way around the room made from the same 1/4"x2-1/4" pine trim we used in the nursery. In this case, however, we painted the upper and lower rails green and the middle navy blue.

You will note, the middle rail merges on one wall with a shelf where some antique trucks are displayed. Between the middle and upper rails will be some vintage metal advertising signs from the 1930-1950 period. The colors for the chair railing were matched to the signage. Preparing and installing the chair rail was a little labor intense but the result was worth it.

Again, all the final decorating isn't finished but I included some pictures showing the work to date. After a summer of airplane building, some painting and carpentry is a pleasant change of pace, particularly when working on projects for the kids and grandkids.
