Brief Description: Aileron hinge brackets & push/pull tubes
I completed a few miscellaneous tasks today including the aileron hinge brackets and push/pull tubes. I began by polishing the edges of the aileron hinge bracket components and scotchbriting the parts in preparation for priming. After priming, the hinge brackets were assembled with careful attention to the rivet call outs in the plans (combination of flush and universal head rivets).
The push/pull tubes were cut to length with a tubing cutter and the ends deburred. I mixed up a little primer, plugged one end of the tubes, and coated the inside (poured a little primer in and spun the tube while pouring out the excess). The tubes were then stood upright so any excess could drain.
A drilling template was made to mark six equa-distant rivet locations around each tube to secure the machined aluminum ends. The ends were then inserted, match drilled, and riveted. The bearing inserts will be inserted in the small tubes, match drilled, and riveted in the next shop session. The primer needs some additional time to cure.
