Brief Description:  Continued tank preparations

A number of miscellaneous tasks were completed this morning including drilling of the root rib for the fuel vent fitting, match drilling the outboard rib nose reinforcement plate, fabrication of the flop tube anti-fouling bracket, and match drilling a tooling hole patch for the outboard rib.

The root rib, tank bracket and reinforcement plate for the fuel line fitting was also match drilled. I drilled the hole with the Unibit, however, it was necessary to drill the tank bracket from both sides due to its thickness.

I made a modification to the anti-fouling bracket (flop tube) shown in the plans. Rather than making a one-piece bracket and riveting it in place, I made the bracket so the center section can be easily removed allowing more room to reach inside the tank. If the flop tube ever has to be serviced, I will need all the room possible to get access to the tube and fitting. I designed the bracket contour and screw fastener to minimize the risk of the flop tube becoming hung up or stuck. The fasteners used are stainless pan head screws and nylon lock nuts.
