Brief Description: Additional trimming on canopy and spacers
I had done the initial cutting, fitting, and trimming of the canopy earlier but additional work was required to get a good fit, proper operation of the latch, and to get the slider to match up with the windscreen so the fiberglass fairing would lookj good and seal properly.
So, I spent a few hours sanding the edges of both the slider portion of the canopy and the windsrceen. I also determined the proper spacer thicknesses for all nineteen spots around the circumference of the canopy roll bar. There were only 4 locations where no spacers were required. The other locations ranged from one thin washer to 3-4 thick washers down at the corners of the windscreen. Now that I have the thicknesses I have to decide how to fabricate the permanent spacers. I want something that can be epoxied or glued in place so an adhesive can be applied which will both bond the windscreen and hide the spacers.
I brought some poster board out to the hangar to make a pattern for the leather cover that will eventually cover the glare shield. I am thinking a layer of black leather might be a good choice. Should be able to make the pattern quickly in the next few days.
