Brief Description:  Continued work on port wingtip

I began the shop session by installing and marking the trailing edge rib in the wingtip. Once removed, the rib was scotchbrited and primed. The rib was match drilled to the tip and the holes in the fiberglass countersunk for rivets.

The tip was matched drilled for #6 platenuts. The nuts were located by clecoing the nutplate with a silver cleco to the tip. The nutplate was then match drilled for the -3 rivets. The silver cleco keeps the nuplate precisely located. I then put the tip back on the wing and drilled the holes to #27 for #6 screws. The wing tip skin was dimpled and the fiberglass tip was countersunk using a fabricated platenut jig to keep the countersink bit centered. The platenuts were then riveted on the bottom of the wingtip. Three nutplates were riveted on the top (waiting for additional nutplates from Aircraft Spruce). The tip was reattached to the wing to check fit and alignment of all the nutplates and countersunk holes. Everything looks good.

Image three below shows the mismatch (about 1/4") between the trailing edge of the aileron and wingtip). For now, I don't plan to do anything with the mismatch. I will wait and see what the starboard wing looks like.
