Brief Description:  More work on port wingtip

I marked the wingtip top and bottom for 1/4" clearance to the aileron. The tip was then removed, trimmed, and sanded. After reinstalling with clecos I reattached the aileron and checked fit. The clearance is good but as expected the trailing edge of the aileron does not align exactly with the trailing edge of the tip. It is off about 1/4", just enough to be noticeed everytime I look at the wing. The only way to correct is probably to split the trailing edge, trim off 1/4", reglass the edge, and then shape by sanding.

Decided to switch gears and work on the landing light lens. I had already cut and trimmed the lens earlier but additonal trimming is required after the wingtip is attached. I spent considerable time today sanding and fitting the lens. Once fitted, the lens and tip was match drilled for screws and nutplates. Not sure whether to install just two fasteners in the inboard corner (top and bottom) or three on the top and bottom (corner and 1/2 way out towards leading edge and tip). Also thinking about countersunk washers versus just screws.

Need to order a bunch of #6 nutplates and stainless screws for attaching the tips to wings. Probably place an Aircraft Spruce order tomorrow.
