Brief Description:  Lower gear leg intersection fairings - Part 1

I ordered gear leg intersection fairings from Fairings Etc. rather than fabricating my own with clay and fiberglass layups. Not sure if this will save any time or not. The lower fairings seem to fit fairly well but will still require quite a bit of glassing to look really good. The uppers will be addressed later but they don't fit the gear legs near as well. Not sure why but they seem to be made for a wider chord leg fairing. Will need to do further research to resolve. Anyway, they will require a lot more work than the lowers.

I began the fitting process by installing the flat bar leg fairings and attaching the forward fairing section with clecos to the paint. It was trimmed to the forward edge of the pant section. The rear section was then trimmed to match. The rear section was eventually clecoed to the pant and the pant was removed.

The mating surfaces were sanded thoroughly and then bonded together with a mix of slow hardening resin and cotton fiber flox. Next step will be prepare the external surfaces by thorough sanding and doing some glass layups. 3-4 glass layups should be sufficient.
