Brief Description:  Lower gear leg intersection fairings - Part 2

I began the process of filling the fairing to pant bonded area to get a smooth one piece look. I am using the SuperFil product from Aircraft Spruce. They refer to it as bondo for airplanes. I applied the filler with a squeegee and then snaded smooth. Additional filler was added and sanded agin. This process will repeat until I am satisfied with the result. Haven't decided yet whether a layer of glass over the filler for stabilization is necessary.

After I put the pant back on the airplane I found that additional fitting will be required. It was a mistake doing the finishing work off the gear leg. Apparently, even though everything was clecoed there must have been just enough movement that the final fit was not as good as before. So, additional sanding and adjustment is necessary.

I decided to do some layups inside the fairing where it meets the gear leg to create a flange that should keep the two fiberglass pieces aligned. The flanges are attached to the rear part of the pant and extend about 1/4" under the forward portion of the wheel pant.
