Brief Description:  Finishing of fiberglass tips

Fittin the lower rudder cap was time consuming for me. I made a paper template to get just the right lines for cutting the forward end of the cap. It has to be cut to fit around the bracket as you can see in the photos. I then made a flange from from scrap aluminum and riveted it to the inside of the U-shaped cap. The flange has some platenuts on the inside surface to accommodate the #6 attaching screws. I wanted this small cap to be removable to ease future maintenance involving the rod end bearing.

The entire lower cap was fitted and match drilled to the flanges on the lower edge of the rudder. The extreme aft rivets will require some ingenuity since the fiberglass is very narrow and the opposing rivets interfere with each other.
