Before beginning the fitting and installation of the wheel pants it was necessary to level the fuselage (at the canopy rails) and setup the centerline fixture. The fuselage must be leveled fore and aft as well as latterally. The rather tall stand at the tail did the trick.
Next I dropped a couple plumb lines from the center of the fuselage to a metal yardstick clamped to the a wooden fixture I fabricated. The metal stick will allow me to easily measure out to the centerline mark on the pants to ensure they are aligned to the windstream when the fuselage is in level cruise flight (reduce drag).
