Brief Description:  Wheels, axle nuts, and gear fairings

In preparation for fitting the wheel pants I adjusted the axle nuts and match drilled the nuts to the axles for the cotter pin. I began by jacking each side of the fuselage (right first and then the left) with an engine hoist attached to the engine mount with nylon straps. There really doesn't seem to be any good jacking points on the fuselage. This is a problem that requires a solution later.

Anyway, I lifted each wheel, made sure the bearings were greased, snugged down the nut, backed the nut off jsut enought to get a minute amount of play (very slight), and then drilled thru the axle with a #30 bit using the nut as a guide.

While I had the airplane jacked up I placed some reference marks on the gear fairings and then removed them. I think they will require a little trimming so they won't interfere with either the pants or the extreme top of the gear legs.

My plan is to be sure each tire is has 25 psi of air, raise the tail until the canopy rails are level, and fit the pants with the tires sitting on the floor. Really not sure this is correct but the manual isn't very clear on this procedure. Anyway, I think it will work fine,.
