Brief Description:  Canopy trimming - Part 8

I marked the final trim lines around the circumference of the canopy with red Sharpie and then electrical tape. I then removed the glass from the frame, made the cuts, dressed the edges, and took a little more glass off at the arcs. The canopy was then reclecoed to the frame and a couple final mounting holes drilled.

I have left 1/2" edge distance from the screw holes in the glass. This is a little more than I see in most builder logs. I think a little extra edge distance might be a good idea where the canopy glass is concerned. It may show just a little on the inside but I think it will look fine overall.

The owner of Airplane Plastics has offered to "mate" my canopy to its frame by curing it in his canopy oven at the factory. The process should relieve any stresses in the glass where it is pulled into contact with the steel frame by the clecos. I have what I think is a good fit but am considering his offer.
