Brief Description: Archer annual and engine overhaul
Got some unwelcome news this week. The Archer was in for its annual inspection and it looks like an engine overhaul is the order of the day. I was hoping the Lycoming would go another year but the compression has begun to drop and the oil consumption has almost doubled in the last twelve months. So, off with the engine it is.
We have opted for a field overhaul by Signature Engines located at Lunken Airport in Cincinnati. Wasn't planning on a an engine for the Archer this year but as much night flying as we do it probably isn't wise to take any chances. Guess I shouldn't complain. The engine went just over its 2000 hr TBO.
