Brief Description: Continued light installation port wing
I finally finished fabricating, fitting, and mounting the light sub-assemblies in the port wing tip. The access hole for the landing/taxi lights was cut with a Dremel cutting wheel. The outline was drawn and then cut just a little smaller than the plans specified. That allowed me to use a anding drum to make the final trim to allow the light assembly to just barely fit. I wanted to leave as much fiberglass material as possible for strength. You can see in photo 2 below the backing plates I made and installed to strengthen the areas around the rivets annd the screws holding the nav/position/strobe light to the tip.
Overall, I think it turned out pretty good. There is at least one of the small screw spacers that can be improved. I may give it some attention a bit later.
