Brief Description: Installed lights in starboard wing tip
I was able to finish the light installation in the starboard wing tip today. The photos below show the drilling of the tip for nutplates, the marking of the cutout for the light assembly, and the rough cut. After the nutplates were installed it was necessary to sand the cutout to final size using a Dremel tool with a sanding drum. It took more time than expected fitting the assembly into the tip. There is very little clearance at the extreme leading edge.
The nutplates and the extra metal reflector plate behind the nav light were attached with backing plates inside to reinforce the fiberglass.
