Brief Description:  Primed and painted instrument panel

All the holes are cut for the various instruments, indicators, and switches so it's time to prime and apply color. The colors in the images below are not quite correct since the camera flash interferes somewhat. The actual colors are khaki for the instrument panel and olive drab for the majority of the cockpit interior. I am trying to create a vintage WWII fighter plane look inside and out.

The correct color for the panel would have been black but I decided on khaki to lighten it up a bit. The next step will be to letter the panels (planning on transfer or rub-on letters) and then a couple coats of satin clear to protect the lettering and panel. I will probably apply satin clear to the green parts as well to eliminate the gloss.

I will be investigating upholstery colors and materials in the next few days. Again in keeping with the 1942-43 look and feel I am thinking about khaki for the outer seat panels and olive drab for the inserts (seating surfaces). Materials may be anything from canvas to leather.
