One of the most significant airframes in the shop is a B-17D called Swoose. This is the oldest B-17 in existence and was in the Phillipine Islands on 8 Dec 1941 when WWII began in the Pacific. This aircraft was in storage at the Smithsonian until about two years ago when it came to the museum. It is in relatively good condition but will still require thousands of hours and several years of work to complete.
