The setup for the VS was a bit frustrating. The instructions say to trim the VS 702 (Front Spar of the VS) 9/16 to fit behind the bracket it mounts to.
After getting the aft spar in place and squaring the rear of the VS now it comes to the front Spar vertical alighment. You start by getting the aft spar tight and putting a straight edge on the hinge brackes and raising or lowering the front spar so they are all touching the Straight endge. Once I did that, the lower holes in the Vans bracket miss the VS 702.. the part they told me to cut.
The fix for this was to re-make the bracket out of the same stock Vans made. I started with the bottom of the bracket sicne it was fine. With the VS in place, I measured how much more material I needed to make it fit correctly (.35)
I Took that measurment and added it to the new piece between the bend and the rivet holes of the new piece.
I bent the piece and put it in place and new it fits perfectly. I sent this information to Vans and now I am awaiting a responce since it is super-structre related. I feel that the step of cutting that spar should come after you align the VS.
