Brief Description:  Engine Cowls

Over the past few days I've attached the radiator & oil cooler mounting hardware. As I mentioned in a previous log, the plates do not fully comply with the shape of the cowl, requiring some filler to be used in addition to the 4mm rivets. For the radiator plates I used J-B Weld and for the oil cooler plates I used the same stainless steel & fibreglass reinforced filler used on the windscreen frame as they required quite a thick bed for the screws to be in proper alignment. Washers were installed under the tails of the rivets against the fibreglass. To bond the fittings to the tanks of the coolers, I used J-B Weld after having removed the paint and scuffed and cleaned all surfaces. The tank paint was then touched up in satin black. I need to finesse the sealing rubbers as there are still a few minor gaps.
