I'm pretty happy with the way the edge extension has turned out. After LOTS of sanding today It has a very smooth transition from the old to new surface on the outside & it has a constant thickness, matching the original. Inside, it has been sanded flat across the scarf area which should allow it to fit well on the mounting strip. Lots of work but I'm happy I was able to do this job myself after thinking it would be too difficult. I'll need to wait now for the lower cowl to return from paint before I trim the new extension to length.
I had already cut the deep nostril from the left side to allow room for the external alternator and today I removed the other one to match. There is still a lot of work required to bring the cowls up to standard for paint but I'll wait till all the mechanical adjustments are complete before commencing that.
