Today I removed the mould from the upper cowl, it came off more easily than I had imagined. The result is OK but not perfect, the thickness is very close to being correct as far as I can tell until its trimmed but about 75% of the length of the edge of the cowl had become void of resin up to about a 5mm width, I think because of capillary action as it had travelled about 15mm between the tape & the mould. The unaffected areas are very good and I could have used polyester body filler to repair the voids but as it is the edge of the cowl, I've mixed some epoxy resin thickened to a paste with fumed silica, masked the area and filled the voids. I think this will be fairly easily sanded to give a good finish on the outside of the cowl. Assuming that is the case, the next step will be to trim the rough edges of the new work & sand the inside of the scarf to the desired, consistent thickness.
