Yesterdays test piece worked out quite well. The bees wax worked very well as the release agent & resulted in a very good surface and was very easily removed from the aluminium sheet. 8 layers of cloth resulted in a thickness of 1.7mm and a very stiff piece. When it comes time to layup the final attempt, I'll use 6 layers. I'm going to try to use a mould for that layup so today I prepared the area of the cowl adjacent to the relevant edge for making the mould. I masked and sanded the area smooth & once again used the bees wax as the release agent. As the test piece from yesterday is so stiff, I layered 8 pieces of cloth to form the mould, hopefully it will be easy to remove and equally as stiff, once again we'll see.
