Brief Description: Fitting F-779 Tailcone Skin, Part 1
In this work session, I worked on fitting the F-779 Tailcone skin to the F-711 and F-712 bulkheads. To accomplish this I first trial fit the F-711 and F-712 to the F-779. While I was able to get them to fit together nominally, I think I will go back and bend the skin a bit more to get a more flush fit. Next I marked and drilled the WD-409 to the F-711 Bulkhead using a #30 drill bit (I wil upsize this to a 1/4" hole for an AN4 bolt later). Then I began trimming the F-779 to accomodate the tailwheel. I first traced the opening using a piece of printer paper, then trimmed the paper to the outline of the hole. I tranferred this hole to the F-779 using a pernament marker, and drilled relief holes using a #30 drill bit. I then held my breath and cut the hole using my dremel tool with a cutting wheel (which is becoming my new favorite tool). I then slowly enlarged the hole using a vairety of files, my 1" belt sander, and emory paper. See next log...
