Brief Description:  Prepped HS fairings.

Began prepping HS fairings for assembly. Same as the rudder fairings, they required some cutting, filing and sanding to make the recessed areas fit correctly. Both the left and right fairings had a slight hump and dip about midway along the fairing that had to be sanded out. I may have to add some filler later to finish it off but it looks okay for now. I also cut strips of aluminum to act as a backer for the rivets. These strips will be inside the fairing to give the rivets a firmer attach point. I cut the strips about 3/4" wide then clamped them inside the HS tips and match drilled them. I then used permatex with cleco's to hold them to the inside of the fairing. Next step is to counter sink the fairings.
One note on dimpling the tips...the 2 holes (top and bottom) located next to the counterweights are hard to get at with a regular dimple die. I had to use a reduced diameter dimple die with the manual squeezer to get them dimpled.
