Brief Description:  Cockpit Panel Work

In terms of progressing with the canopy I have to get the struts for the canopy frame installed therefore I have to install first the cockpit. So I decided to finish as much as possible on the dash. I installed the cabin vents, the canopy struts and the cockpit pan.
First the aluminium pan was trimmed to fit. This has to be done carefully as the dashboard is not exactly symmetric.
To choose the right screw spacing was a question which took some time with different trail layouts. On the end I decided to keep screws in line with others to make it look organised. Also I used a few screws more than suggested in the manual as the spacing was too big for my feelings. Now the space between screws is not bigger as 5 1/4".
Also I applied a layer of filler to the fuse joint, which has to be sanded during the week.

During the winter I do the glassing only on weekends as the temperature is too low during the week on evenings. Proper surface temperature of fibre glass should be around the 20 - 25degC to provide best connection.
