Made a lot of progress today. I do feel like I can save both elevators from their initial problems. I now have the added intermediate ribs clecoed into place, the inboard ribs and the leading edge overlaps drilled and clecoed. Both are now flat and straight, the twist has been eliminated. I even added on the trim tab to the left-hand elevator, just because it is kind of a thrill to do final rivetting on any part. I have deferred drilling and clecoing the elevator tips until I see how they mate up to the horizontal stabilizer. One of the challenges of this empennage work is that nothing can be finalized until all the parts are assembled together and checked for alignment. it's kind of frustrating to have everything in clecoes while other parts are fabricated. But today's work moved me forward nicely. it is possible I may be able to drill the stabilizer mount bolt holes tomorrow, which will be a major milestone if I can do it.
