Brief Description:  details of attaching baffles to the engine

because these cylinder head baffles are so frustrating, I have kind of been bouncing back and forth between the cylinder head baffles and the cylinder barrell baffles. I thought the cylinder barrel baffles might be a bit easier, but not really so. the cylinder barrels themselves are not really perfect cylinders. they are cylindrical from the engine case outward a little more than half way, but there they start to flare out on three sides so that each successive fin is slightly larger than the previous one until they reach the heads. so if my baffles would fit a cylinder perfectly, they are a bit too large at the inside and then become too small right at the junction with the head. And in at least one position, the nuts on the through-bolts holding the case halves together interfere with the baffles. So I am going back to the cylinder head baffles and trying to design the attachment point details in my problem areas. There, the push rod tubes occur right at the turn from the vertical portion of the baffle to the horizontal portion. So I am going to have to design a bracket that accounts for the curvature in that vertical portion, and supports a longer reach from the attachment to the baffle, down past the push rods to the point where the all-thread rods can attach, to connect them to the opposite baffles. because of the extra length, I may have to incorporate some extruded aluminum angles in addition to the 0.040 aluminum sheet, to give it enough rigidity to do the job. More on all this, and hopefully some pictures, tomorrow.
