Brief Description: begin filling and fairing defects in top cowling
I began the proably lengthy proces of filling and fairing various defects in the top half of the cowling, in hopes of making it a better mold for the final cowl. The defects include wrinkles in the packing tape over which the fiberglass was laid, plus areas where there was insufficient epoxy over the fiberglass cloth (flat voids), plus areas where there were actual large bubbles under the fiberglass cloth, which make large divots in the mold, which would be large lumps on the surface of the cowling if not corrected. I made up a mixture of epoxy and microballoons to attempt to fill in these defects, we'll find out tomorrow how successful that was.
