Brief Description:  completed fuel line fabrication

After many failed attempts and much wasted material I finally got this line fabricated. I'm going to give a detailed description of what finally worked. At the exact location I want the end of the hose to be, i made a very tight wrap of electrical tape, as tight as I could get it, and only two or three wraps deep, any more would be too thick. and I stacked the wraps directly on top of each other, no wandering. Then I added two screw-type hose clamps on top of the electrical tape, with about a sixteenth of an inch between them, right where I want to make the cut. I tightened down the hose clamps very tight, so there was a visible compression of the stainless steel braid under them. Then I left the tightened clamps in place for a good long while. If I need to do any more of these in the future, I think I will let the tightened clamps sit overnight. This would have two purposes: one would be to try to give the individual wires in the braid a sort of "set" toward bending inward, rather than "blossoming" outward as they very much want to do. another idea is to get the electrical tape to adhere well to the braid and keep it laying flat. The next step is to use a dremel with a mini cut-off wheel and cut the hose between the two hose clamps. Then, before removing the hose clamp, have everything ready to get the AN fitting nut onto the hose. For awhile I was trying to clamp the hose in a drill press vice and work the nut onto it, but I had better success by clamping the AN fitting nut into the drill press vice and working the hose into it. This is some delicate timing, because as soon as the hose clamp comes off, the wires in the braid start trying to blossom out, and the electrical tape can't hold it for long. but if you're quick you can get the hose end started into the nut before the blossom blocks your progress. I should make it clear that when the brief description says "completed fuel line fabrication" it is just referring to this one line from the gascolator to the carburetor. Several more lines re
