Brief Description: preparing for mounting the gascolator
As I was deciding on the exact placement of the gascolator, I thought about mounting it on the lower cross-member of the framing, which is an aluminum angle, but in the end I did not want to drilll a hole that big in that member. So I fabricated a backing plate out of aluminum flat stock, that can be rivetted to the back of the firewall just above the angle mentioned above. As Istruggled to install that, it became obvious that Ineed to remove the engine to permit precisely perpendicular drilling of the mount holes. So most of the day was spent removing the engine.
