Fit HS to fuselage. Trimmed HS bottom skin back about 1/4" so HS would span the rear fuselage. Measured The fuselage outside width at the forward and rear mounting points for the HS. Transfered the measurement to the bottom HS skin and cut back the skin according to the measurement.
It appears there is about a 1.7 degree negative incidence when mounting the HS to the fuselage. This results in a gap on the rear of the front HS mounting angle and a similar gap on the rear mounting angle. I contacted Sonex and they said this was normal and to ignore the gap and just bolt the HS angle to the fuselage stringers. The gap is pretty small so I doubt if this is a propblem and I trust Sonex and their advice. However, a friend looked at the situation and offered to make a set of aluminum wedges for the HS mounting and he has a machine shop so why not? Anyway, I don't think the wedges are necessary but since a friend offered to make them I will probably go ahead and use them, two per bolt, under the angle and under the bolt head.
