Brief Description:  Made new OB rib attach angles

Received order from ACS and fabricated 2 new outboard root rib trailing edge attach brackets. The ones shipped with the kit were not correct and caused the top of the root rib flange to be 1/8" lower than the rear spar top flange and the bottom flange 1/8" lower than the rear spar bottom flange. Also, the edge distances for the AN3 bolts were not within specs. Others have experienced this same problem with the premade angle parts.

So, I made new brackets out of 2 1/2 x 1/8" aluminum angle. Because the two pieces (left and right) are mirror images of each other, I was able to use the original left bracket to trace a right bracket outline when the piece was butted up against the angle stock and visa versa for the other bracket. After tracing the outline, I increased the width of the bracket flanges so I could move the AN3 bolt holes 1/8" down on the bracket. I increased the width of the large flange downward by 5/32" and the short flange 9/32". The original brackets had the short flange milled narrower than the large flange by about 1/8" which was not necessary. I also increased the length of the short flange 1/8" to allow for better edge distance on the AN3 bolt holes.

I used the mirror image feature to match drill the 1/8" rivet holes on the large flange and the AN3 holes on the other. I found a bushing that fit tight into the AN3 holes on the original brackets and was then able to center a #25 drill bit in the hole so the new parts have #25 holes rather than the 3/16" holes for AN3 bolts. I'll use a reamer to match drill (ream) the AN3 holes to the rear spars when I install the new angles.
